Management of plastic waste has become an issue of Concern across the globe and interventions at different levels have already been initiated. However, the problem can only be tackled with the mutual support of individual at ground or grass-root level. The governmental agencies have been trying through different means to curb down the problem and Eco-club Delhi has been playing a pivotal role in the same.
There are several webinar and other initiatives take up by Eco-Club and Gitarattan Institute of Advanced Studies and Training very religiously have been actively putting in efforts to create awareness by taking up strategic steps to fulfill the vision. On 10th of June, 2022 a webinar was organized in collaboration with Chintan.
The webinar “Single Use Plastic (SUPs) and Action to be taken to ensure compliance of Plastic Waste Management Rules” was focused on bringing up sustainable solutions to lower down the plastic pollution. Mr. Rajat very diligently focused on all the aspects of disturbance created by irresponsible plastic management. It was fascinating to know how plastic was introduced and over time how it created imbalance. The session indicated towards creation of circular economy, an inclusive support system which would help in the management of plastic waste in informal sector.
The role of Eco-Clubs was also highlighted wherein cleanup drives, decentralization of MRF, enforcement of segregation of waste among locality and the adoption of 4Rs (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle). In addition to this, the Plastic Management Rules were also highlight where the limelight was on the fact that from July 2022, a number of plastic items would be banned. The Green Delhi App and its functionality was also been talked about in the webinar.
The webinar was not only enriching but also captivating. The aim was to provide solutions which was very efficiently delivered and the attention of students remained enacted.
