Creating awareness among youth about the problems that have been raising with each passing day because of humans’ non-judicial utility. Desertification is one of those issues, in simpler terms it refers to the transformation of fertile or useful land into barren, dead and deserted, one where survival and existence of flora and fauna becomes tough. Drought whereas refers to prolonged dry period in the natural climate cycle that can occur anywhere in the world. It is a slow onset disaster characterized by the lack of precipitation, resulting in water shortage thus making a land barren, hence deserted.
An inter-house activity conducted on 17th June, 2022 on the topic desertification and drought. Under the able guidance of our Head (Equality House) Ms. Shruti Singh ma’am the preparation of the content and presentation was done. This activity was very enriching as the students got a chance to listen to different perspectives been delivered by fellow participants. A clear understanding was built on the meaning, nature, severity, it’s causes and impacts, steps taken by individuals and government in mitigating this problem and lastly some successful methods across the globe in rejuvenating a dead and barren land.
It was concluded that use of preventive measures and developing new methods by advancing research techniques can help in mitigation of this problem as well as rejuvenation of dead and deserted land to promote life.
