National Seminar On “Boosting Economy by streamlining vocational education in schools”

 The after effects of COVID- 19 has resulted in a paradigm shift in teaching learning process which has paced online advancement and propensity of millennial learners towards becoming proficient and getting equipped with new age skills of heading with education along with adding earning source out of it.

 This National Seminar aims to review one of the highlighting spot of NEP envisaging the potential side of Vocational education. The National Seminar was conducted on December 8th April 2023 at Google Meet application.

Prof. Sonia Jindal, Principal, Gitarattan Institute of Advanced Studies and Training, was the guiding force in the dynamic execution of National Seminar and  other faculty members and guests enriched the event with their remarkable presence.

Ms Neha Bajaj, Assistant Professor, Gitarattan Institute of Advanced Studies and Training gave the salutation for the programme.

 

To carry over the proceedings of the National Seminar, Dr.AanchalRana Assistant Professor, Gitarattan Institute of Advanced Studies and Training gave Prelude where she gave the introduction about the topic in a detailed manner. She emphasized on the worth of focusing on Vocational Education along with academics.

 

After it, Dr. S. K. Bhatia, our associate from CIE. Sir has a great companionship with the Institution. He addressed the faculties and personalities from educational fraternity and shared his words of wisdom. He focused on different aspects associated like focusing on vocational education and also on holistic approach to be used for teaching new age learners. Sir has stressed that if these vocational education programs are implemented in the right spirit they can bring qualitative changes in the lives of our young brigade.

 

To carry over the discussion, Dr. Jitendra Kumar Patidar sir, Assistant Professor, Department of Teacher Education, NCERT. He presented his insightful thoughts on the vocational education v/s academic education and also envisioned his views on the prospectus of NEP 2020 keeping in mind the fate of Kothari Commission.

The National Seminar has happened under two technical sessions. The First Technical Session was hosted by Dr. Shikha Ranjan, Associate Professor, Gitarattan Institute of Advanced Studies and Training and chaired by Prof. Dr. Jitentra Kumar Patidar Sir in which four papers were presented by guests.

 

 

The first presenter Dr. Bhupendra Kumar Soni, Assistant Professor from Department of Electronic & Communication, Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies presented views on Academic Education Vs. Vocational Education. Second Presenter Tanya Keer & Ritki, Scholar from Manav Rachan University highlighted on vocational education and Kothari Commission will meet the same fate in 2023. Third presenter Ms. Bhagyavi Bisht, Scholar from Manav Rachna University shared her paper on how Vocational Education can be streamlined with Academic Education. Fourth paper presenter was Ms. Palak & Ms. Archana, Scholar from Manav Rachna University, focuses upon the challenges faced by the Kothari Commission in the implementation of Vocational Education in India. Next presenter Ms. Priyanka Sharma Chopra, Assistant Professor & Ms. Deepa Jha from Delhi Teacher’s Training Institute also highlights the crucial role of vocational education in meeting the need of 21st century skills among the learner and enable them to become good entrepreneurs.  

The technical session-I was followed by an Open Discussion, where participants were invited to put forward their queries and ideas with a concluding remark from Dr. Jitentra Kumar Patidar

 

At the end of Technical Session I, Dr. Shikha Ranjan, Associate Professor, Gitarattan Institute of Advanced Studies and Training handed over the charge to execute the technical session II by Ms. Shikha Sharma, Assistant Professor, Gitarattan Institute of Advanced Studies & Training.

Ms. Shikha Sharma, Assistant Professor, Gitarattan Institute of Advanced Studies and Training, welcomed the honourable resource person for technical session II Professor Yukti Sharma, Department of Education CIE, Joint Director, Institute of Lifelong Learning, University of Delhi.

Professor Yukti Sharma shared valuable ideas on the two sub-themes: Linking School Education with Start- ups and Higher-Level Vocational Courses and the possibility of linking School Vocational Education Courses with job-placements.

Professor Yukti Sharma highlighted on the equality in education for boosting the vocational education in India. She focused on the hands-on ability of the learner with the exploration in vocational education.  The policy strongly recommends inclusion as the fundamental principle. She elaborated Inclusion in classroom and school duty to accept every child. She also emphasis that the nature and body of knowledge required for vocational education is very important how it helps in developing the critical thinking among the learners. Furthermore, the paradigm shift in knowledge is crucial for developing the 21st Century skills among learners and the implementation of the policy plays the pivotal part in linking vocational education with higher education courses. 

 

Professor Yukti Sharma engrossed the participants with her immense knowledge, the paper presenters from various institutions presented their ideas on the sub-themes in an interactive manner.  

Ms. Shailja Ranawat and Vijendra Kumar Maurya from Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies, Udaipur, Rajasthan presented the views on vocational education to boost the mainstream education. Second Presenter Dr. Priti Srivastava & Roshni Sam from Kamal Institute of higher education and advanced technology presented the views on the Challenges faced by the Vocational education and the suggestions to improve upon. Third presenter Ms. Shweta & Vishal Verma, Research Scholar from Department of Education, University of Delhi, presented the views on the survey study and discussed the findings with the participants their study highlighted the key inputs with reference to women taking up in the mainstream of vocational education and as an entrepreneur. Fourth presenter Mr. Denis, Assistant Professor from Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies, Udaipur, presented the paper which highlights the major concerns regarding vocational education in India and a comparative study with USA. Fifth Presenter Ms. Mallika Ghai & Dr. Priti Srivastava from Kamal Institute of higher education and advanced technology presented the views on how the challenges of Vocational education can meet up with the current implementation of NEP 2020. Last but not the least Ms. Deepali Kamal  & Ms. Amreen Khan, Teacher Trainees from Manav Rachna University presented the paper on Vocation Education meeting higher education in India 

The technical session-2 was followed by an Open Discussion, where participants were invited to put forward their queries and ideas with a concluding remark from Professor Yukti Sharma. The session came to its conclusion with expression of gratitude by Ms. Praveen Dabas, Assistant Professor, Gitarattan Institute of Advanced Studies and Training, on the behalf of Gitarattan family, she thanked the honorable resource persons for both the sessions for their valuable insights on the theme, to the presenters and participants for their active engagement throughout the session and importantly she thanked the organizing committee and Principal ma’am Professor Sonia Jindal for being guiding force behind the National Conference. 

 

The National Seminar “Boosting Economy by Streamlining Vocational Education in Schools” was a great success without any doubt as it surely contributed to the knowledge community.
