“EVERYDAY OF YOUR LIFE IS ANOTHER LESSON”
An extension lecture was organised on NURTURING LIFE SKILLS by DR. SUBHASH CHANDER on 20 April 2023. The workshop started with beautiful welcome note given by one of our classmates . She gave introduction about educational qualifications and achievements of the speaker .
Dr. Subhash started the lecture with a very simple yet very intriguing question i.e. “what is the most important thing for a teacher?” This question really made all of us think that is the most important factor for a teacher . As we all are budding teachers we all should have one thing which we feel is the most important thing which defines the personal believes of a teacher .
Sir engaged us in very basic conversation about life and raised various interesting questions like how do you see yourself in next 5 years . Few students answered but the majority was confused about their future goals and plans .
Sir highlighted that the basic problem in our Indian education system is the orientation . Since our childhood we all have been taught to focus on getting marks instead of getting happiness and achieving personal growth .Sir mentioned how there have been various turbulences in the past years and the best way to deal with these turbulences are the right LIFE SKILLS .
Life skills are the combination of competencies , skills and attitude . Life skills helps people to make informed decisions and solve the challenges faced. In our lives
Sir highlighted that as generation gap is increasing it is very important for 21st century teachers to understand and connect well with their students . The well being of a teacher and a student is very necessary for effective learning .Sir showed a powerpoint presentation highlighting various skills like ME SKILLS , WE SKILLS , WHY SKILLS , WILL and also skill of asking for help and conflict resolution . The lecture got even more interesting when sir conducted a small activity and we all participated actively .
Sir concluded the workshop by saying very motivating words that is don't HESITATE , come forward and share your thoughts and problems with others and your teachers .
