The students of Gitarattan Institute of Advanced Studies and Training recently organized an activity focused on gender awareness. They expressed their message through the creation of a rangoli, highlighting the theme of gender equality. This aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 5, which aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
The activity showcased the importance of treating each gender equally, ensuring that equal opportunities are available to all individuals. Gender equality means that rights, responsibilities, and opportunities should not be determined by one's gender, physical abilities, age, race, or geographical location. It emphasizes the need for women to live with dignity, safety, and security.
Regardless of one's place of residence, gender equality is considered a fundamental human right. Advancing gender equality is crucial for various aspects of a healthy society, including poverty reduction, promoting the health and education of girls and boys, and ensuring their overall well-being.
