Navratri is celebrated in different regions of India in different ways. Navratri and Garba go parallel, one cannot be complete without Dance and enthusiasm with colorful outfits that are special features of Garba along with special Dandiya. In the North West ' Especially in the state of Gujrat, Navaratri brings in Garba ' or the Dandiya raas. A dance form depicting Lord Krishna's dance with his gopikas typically danced with 2 wooden dowels/sticks decorated in festive colors.
On 13th October 2021 a virtual Dandiya Decoration Activity was organized at GIAST for students of D.El.Ed First Year. The student's enthusiastically participated and decorated their dandiya sticks to honor the celebration of Maha Navmi and Durga Pooja.
The activity was decided keeping in the work and Education curriculum of D.EL.ED. It assigned for creating cultural awareness. and for building up proper attitudes towards work developing favorable work values and habits, imparting necessary knowledge related to work, and developing appropriate work skills, which can help the children to become productive and self-reliant in meeting their day to day needs.
