An extension lecture on the 'Role of Principal as a Transformative leader' was scheduled on 18 October 2021 at 11 am by GIAST on the online platform. The key speaker of the lecture was Ms. D Anupama, Principal will renowned CBSE Senior Secondary School. She introduced the teacher trainees to the challenges that the teachers face in their profession. Ms Anupama shared her views on the role of a principal as a leader and also shared a power point presentation for the same. She stressed that a transformational leader encourages different opinions, frames strategies, adapts to changes, fosters participation in school decision, and emphasises morals, communication and authenticity in a school. She also related the role of leader to the real life examples to stress on the fact that the decision of a leader leads to a change on a huge level. She emphasized on the role of a principal in the transformation of real to virtual education system during the pandemic which has helped schools to produce academic result in a proper manner.
There were discussions too in the meeting where the teacher trainees actively participated to express their views. She also explained how the ideals of a principal help in the development of a school. The role of individual consideration, inspirational motivation, idealised influence was also discussed. The lecture ended with a vote of thanks by a teacher trainee, Jaskiran.
