AAGAZ 2025: ORIENTATION DAY

 

 

“Every beginning is a doorway to new opportunities and endless possibilities. Aagaz is not just a start; it is the courage to take the first step towards the dreams.” Gitarattan Institute of Advanced Studies and Training a beacon of quality education, igniting curiosity and shaping character had organised an orientation programme to welcome the new faces of B. ED session 2025-2027 on 4th September 2025 with great enthusiasm and warmth.

Welcome Address

The Orientation Day for the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) program commenced with great enthusiasm and anticipation. New entrants to the course gathered to embark on their journey toward becoming future educators. The session was led by the program coordinator Dr. Shikha Ranjan, who delivered an insightful Welcome address on the evolving role of teachers in the 21st century.

 

Lamp Lightning Ceremony

The program commenced with the auspicious LAMP-LIGHTING CEREMONY, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and the ushering in of knowledge and wisdom. Dignitaries, faculty members, and the esteemed resource person collectively lit the lamp, invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati—the goddess of learning. The glowing flame represented enlightenment, positivity, and guidance for the new B.Ed. students.

 

Ganesh Vandana

Ms. Tanya Abhyee Gupta, a second-year B.Ed. student, presented a graceful Ganesh Vandana dance performance, seeking the blessings of Lord Ganesha for wisdom, success, and the smooth commencement of the academic journey. Her soulful performance created an aura of devotion and set a divine tone for the day’s proceedings.

 

Gitarattan Institute: Legacy and Vision

Dr. Shikha Ranjan, HOD gave an insightful introduction to Gitarattan Institute of Advanced Studies and Training (GIAST). She highlighted the institute’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and holistic development of future educators. Dr. Ranjan emphasized that GIAST is not just an institution of learning but a nurturing ground where values, knowledge, and creativity come together. With its dedicated faculty, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and emphasis on both tradition and modernity, the institute continues to be a beacon of quality teacher education. She further outlined how the institute integrates innovative technology in education, including smart classrooms, digital learning platforms, and modern teaching aids, to prepare students for the demands of 21st-century classrooms. Alongside, GIAST emphasizes rigorous teaching practice through internships, micro-teaching, and real classroom exposure, ensuring that students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical competence.

 

Prelude

Ms. Shikha Sharma, Assistant Professor (GIAST), delivered a warm Prelude about the esteemed guest, Dr. Rakesh Rahi (Deputy Director of Education, District North West B-2) She highlighted his remarkable contributions to the field of education, his vast experience, and his unwavering dedication to nurturing future teachers.

Ms. Sharma shared that Dr. Rahi’s expertise and inspirational outlook have guided countless students and educators, making him a respected figure in academia. Her words-built anticipation and respect among the audience, preparing them for the enlightening session that was to follow from the distinguished guest.

 

Welcome of the Guest

Dr. Shikha Ranjan, extended a warm welcome to Dr. Rakesh Rahi. As a gesture of respect and gratitude, she presented him with a pen and a planter, symbolizing wisdom, growth, and the nurturing of knowledge

 

Inspirational words by Resource Person DR. Rakesh Rahi

The institute invited Dr. Rakesh Rahi (Deputy Director of Education, District North West B-2) as the resource person. In his insightful session, Dr. Rahi reflected on the transformative role of teachers in society. He highlighted the significance of innovation, empathy, and continuous self-growth in education. His words motivated the students to embrace their responsibilities with passion and integrity, seeing teaching not just as a career but as a commitment to nation-building. With his vast experience in the field of education, Dr. Rahi delivered an inspiring and thought-provoking session that deeply resonated with the new batch of B.Ed. students.

He began by emphasizing the sacred role of teachers in shaping society, reminding students that education is not merely about academics but about building character, values, and responsible citizens. He shared that a teacher’s influence extends far beyond classrooms—it lasts a lifetime in the minds of learners.

Dr. Rahi underlined the need for innovation and adaptability in modern education. He highlighted how today’s teachers must embrace technology, digital learning platforms, and creative methodologies to keep pace with the changing world. He also encouraged students to practice inclusive education, ensuring that every child, regardless of background, receives equal opportunities to learn and grow.

Special Segments

Teachers’ Day Celebration

Since the programme coincided with Teachers’ Day celebrations (5th September), a special segment was dedicated to honouring the contribution of teachers. Students expressed their gratitude through speeches and performances, making the orientation more meaningful. The day also included cultural programmes presented by the students, which added vibrancy to the event. Dance, music, and poetry recitations created an atmosphere of joy and enthusiasm, reflecting the creative spirit of the institute. These performances not only entertained but also showcased the diverse talents of the students.

Cultural Programmes

To celebrate the vibrant spirit of AAGAAZ, students presented cultural performances including dance, music, and poetry. These performances reflected creativity, energy, and teamwork, making the day lively and memorable.

 

Alumni Interaction

An inspiring alumni interaction session followed, where former students and current 2nd year B. ED students shared their journeys, challenges, and achievements. They credited the institute for shaping their professional and personal growth, encouraging the freshers to see themselves as part of a strong academic community. Their stories instilled confidence and offered a clear vision of the opportunities that await after completing the B.Ed. program.

 

Overview of the B.Ed. Program

The session was led by Dr. Shikha Ranjan, Head of B.Ed. Department, who delivered a warm welcome address by giving overview of the B. ED program. She highlighted the importance of dedication, discipline, and enthusiasm in the teaching journey. Dr. Ranjan emphasized that the B.Ed. program is not merely about acquiring teaching skills but about cultivating empathy, resilience, and a mindset of lifelong learning.

She further outlined the structure and objectives of the B.Ed. curriculum, including:

• Pedagogical Foundations: Understanding child psychology, learning theories, and inclusive education.

Practical Training: Internships, lesson planning, and classroom management.

Technology Integration: Use of digital tools, smart classrooms, and e-learning platforms.

• Assessment & Evaluation: Modern techniques for evaluating student progress.

 

Dr. Ranjan stressed that educators must evolve with changing times—embracing new methodologies, interdisciplinary approaches, and global perspectives to nurture future generations.

 

Faculty Introduction “MEET YOUR FACULTY”

A highlight of the day was the introduction of faculty members, each bringing academic expertise and real-world experience. Faculty including Ms. Shikha Sharma, Ms. Neha Bajaj, Ms. Vandana, Ms. Garima, Ms. Anshi Chandra, Ms. Ashu Kumari, Ms. Nitya Chopra, Ms. Shelly Tandon and MS. Neelam shared their vision, subject specializations, and teaching philosophies. Collectively, they inspired students to view teaching as a mission to shape lives and values.

All of them in a way or other emphasized on that teachers must be open to new methodologies, interdisciplinary approaches, and global perspectives. Building empathy, patience, and resilience to connect with diverse learners.

Dr. Shikha also highlighted about Understanding and respecting the backgrounds of students to foster inclusive classrooms. She mentioned on aiming Continuous upskilling through workshops, certifications, and peer learning. The coordinator urged students to view teaching not just as a profession, but as a mission to shape the minds and values of future generations.

 

Interactive Session

The orientation included an interactive Q&A session with the coordinator, where students shared queries, concerns, and aspirations. Dr. Shikha Ranjan responded with encouragement and practical advice, sharing personal anecdotes that left the students inspired and motivated.

 

Conclusion

The vote of thanks was delivered by MS. Neha Bajaj Assistant professor (GIAST) extending gratitude to the management, resource person, faculty, alumni, and students for making the event a grand success. The Orientation Program AAGAAZ 2025 successfully laid a strong foundation for the new academic session. Through enlightening speeches, engaging cultural performances, and meaningful alumni interactions, the program instilled confidence and enthusiasm among the freshers.

The presence of the respected resource person and faculty members added immense value, while the cultural performances and alumni interaction created a sense of belonging and enthusiasm. The program served as a reminder that the journey of a teacher is not only about imparting knowledge but also about shaping lives and contributing positively to society.
